Mrs P’s daughter, a student at Farnborough Sixth Form College, enrolled on Futurewise having seen her elder brother already receive support and guidance from the programme.
Not being 100% certain of what she might like to study at University but with a keen interest in psychology, Mrs P decided that her daughter could also benefit from some impartial advice. She explains:
“My daughter is a clear thinker and was already showing an interest in pursuing her studies in psychology, she did, however, need to refine what the options around this might look like before deciding this was the right path to follow. The face to face consultation really helped in this respect, and she’s now hoping to start a four-year psychology degree later this year.”
The Futurewise rogramme is designed to ensure that young people get the right level of support and information at the key transitional stages of their educational development, and provides on-going support from age 15 to 23. In recognition that not all schools are either able to or choose to provide this to their students, Inspiring Futures decided to make the programme available for parents to purchase individually.
Mrs P concludes:
“Given that our son had already experienced Futurewise we were confident of the quality of guidance that our daughter would receive, and so we were happy to pay as it’s so important to get something like this right early on. I believe that for young people, hearing impartial advice and insight from someone other than their own parents can have real impact and hit home in a way that it perhaps wouldn’t at home. The person who worked with our daughter showed true knowledge and was above all helpful without being patronising. I’d have no hesitation in recommending Futurewise to other parents who are keen to support their children’s career development.”

As a result of the Futurewise programme, my daughter feels immeasurably happier and is really enthused, not only about how to spend her gap year, but also about what to do afterwards. I feel the support my daughter has been given was not only professional but totally individual.Angela Young, Parent
Completing the Futurewise profile was a good and helpful experience for me, it literally opened my eyes to the future. I liked the job suggestions and was impressed with the personality, abilities and interest section too.Futurewise student
