Inspiring Futures run a series of gap, careers, travel, volunteering and skills development fairs in partnership with host schools across the country.

About the Fairs

Our School Leaver and Gap fairs are attended by a variety of companies offering anything from skills courses, such as learning to sail, employer apprenticeship/Internship programmes, acquiring business skills or preparing for medical schools, to volunteering and travel experiences such as marine conservation projects in Fiji, or teaching orphaned children in South America.

We also offer the opportunity for employers to attend our fairs to promote their school leaver/graduate/apprenticeship/degree apprenticeship programmes to our schools. These companies have included DHL, Jaguar Landover, Lloyds Bank and Savills to name just a few.

What to expect

On arrival, all exhibitors will be provided with a stand and two chairs. Your company logo will be included in the fair’s programme, as well as uploaded to our website for schools to view in advance.

Around 25% of Sidcot's sixth form students are from the EU, China, Hong Kong and elsewhere. Both their UK and non-UK students have a strong sense of internationalism and for this reason, many naturally consider a gap year as a way of broadening their experience and outlook. For a number of reasons, there is increasing interest in deferred university entry with a view to taking a gap year.

This is the first time the school has offered a Gap Year Fair and they expect there to be considerable interest. Invitations will be extended to all Year 11-13 students (200+), their parents as well as two local schools.

The Fair, which is now in its eighth year, follows a formula that has been refined by feedback from parents and pupils. The exhibition fair-style event is timed for when Year 11 start to make A Level subject choices and Year 12 make University choices. We know many of our pupils make their initial plans on the back of this Fair.

All pupils receive an introductory briefing to help them make the most of this opportunity.

We also encourage Forest parents to attend and Year 13 pupils are encouraged to drop in. The venue is spacious with everyone accommodated in the one hall which also has a balcony where exhibitor refreshments are provided.

Spaces are limited so an early response would be much appreciated. Exhibitor application deadline is Friday 21st December 2018.
