Inspiring Futures (IF) has been providing careers services to young people for the last seventy five years. With its headquarters in Wallingford, IF has a long track record of providing careers information, advice and guidance and skills development to young people in the UK and internationally. A regional network exists throughout the UK with teams of guidance professionals in Scotland, the North, the South West and Wales, the East of England and in London and the South East.
As a longstanding and leading provider of school-based support across the UK and internationally (under the Futurewise brand to independent schools and to publicly funded institutions) the mission of Inspiring Futures is to deliver effective and high quality guidance to all young people. IF holds the matrix standard for quality guidance and advice.
Every year IF helps to support some 50,000 young people making decisions about their future. This is through our flagship Futurewise programme as well as through our events, interactive challenges, publications, websites and helpline services. We are now on an ambitious growth curve; take up of our services is poised to grow and the role of the Career Adviser is to enable this to happen. Over the next three years, the Company aims to build on our strong market position and, through innovative new services, be able to help in excess of 250,000 young people every year in the UK and abroad.
If you are passionate about helping young people, devoted to careers guidance and would like to work with a range of interesting people (clients and colleagues) we would like to hear from you. Your main role will be to undertake guidance interviews. These may be one-to-one or group interviews. However, there are opportunities to be involved in psychometric profiling and to attend/present at parents’ evenings and careers/higher education events.
The work is primarily in the period September to February and Career Advisers are required to work flexibly across several schools. The range of activities and the likely number of days is dependent on location and will be discussed at interview.
Career Advisers are required to work in both the independent and state sectors and therefore you should be comfortable working in a range of schools (all expenses paid) with different ability groups and able to inspire in challenging environments. (In Scotland work will be in independent schools only).
We require a self-motivated, experienced and committed individual who can work flexibly and develop good team-working skills with other members of the regional teams. The candidate will be experienced in working with young people in the 14-19 age range and evidence of careers and higher education work in an academic school or college is highly advantageous, as is knowledge of psychometric profiling. Applicants should be able to demonstrate first-class guidance and management skills and ideally be qualified to a QCF Level 6/SCQF Level 11.
Daily rate of £123 - £138 depending on experience, plus following benefits:
